The CAI Charity Committee now referred to as the Helping Hands Committee has been hard at work with Habitat for Humanity to build the first ever CAI House for the Thang/Men family! In addition to raising the $80,000 necessary for this Build, the Committee arranged for volunteer support from sponsors and CAI Georgia members for Saturday build dates during the months of January, February and March 2016. The CAI House is the 273rd house built by Habitat for Humanity – North Central Georgia but is the first Build so far funded by individual and private contributions from one group, CAI-GA. CAI Georgia should be very proud!
Pictured left are the new owners of the Habitat for Humanity house, the Thang/Men family and Helping Hands Committee Chairpersons; Miye Yi and Kelley Moon, and CAI-GA Board Liaison Sean Ruthven.
The video below about the CAI-GA sponsored Habitat for Humanity house Build was shown at the August 26, 2016 CAI-GA Networking Luncheon.
In addition to providing hope to a deserving family the Committee also organized a canned food drive. The recent August 26 Networking Luncheon was paired with "Ignite the Fire Against Hunger-Feed the Hungry" canned food drive deadline to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Almost 1600 pounds of food were delivered to the food bank after the luncheon to assist those in need. The Committee also sponsored the BeTheMatch Registry drive at the 2015 CAI-GA Tennis Tournament. Thirty-Eight people joined BeTheMatch Registry that day to support this worthy cause with our very own member Amy Rader being a match for a three year old boy!
