How Property Managers are Dealing with COVID-19

Without a doubt, the most important thing right now is safety of our communities and members. Navigating through government orders, closings, CDC recommendations, etc. has been an unprecedented challenge, but our managers and management companies have stepped up to the plate!

Operations and services are being prioritize and re-prioritized daily and sometimes even more frequently. Residents have many questions right now and some questions there just are not answers, or at least not yet. Communicating, communicating again and again is essential right now. Property management companies have said communicating through many avenues is keys – email, Websites and community servers, hosting virtual meetings and calls, posted signs on building or billboards.

Typically, this time of year is reserved to getting pools ready, bbqs, camps, summer vacations and many other gatherings. Communities have been advised to continue to maintain services to be ready and it is highly recommended to sanitize gathering areas by professionals to ensure safety. The state of Georgia is continuing to put more guidelines out on how and what to open while still staying safe. There is a lot of talk on how to safely distance residents while opening areas such as the pool, clubhouses, playgrounds, fitness centers, etc. Some solutions have been to set up some furniture to allow for 6’ of social distancing, adjust gate access to limit the amount of entries per hour but information and guidelines keep changing. While these are great solutions, it also presents new issues about liability and who would enforce it.

Truly when it comes down to it, staying informed, utilizing resources and communication is what is going to get us through this!
